AI in Education: Empowering UAE Educators for New Age Teaching

AUD welcomes UAE school teachers and leaders for an upskilling opportunity to enhance classroom instruction through integrating artificial intelligence concepts and tools. This CPE course offers a practical, project- based approach where teachers will create and curate AI-powered educational games and learning experiences through conceptually grounded pedagogies that can be immediately applied in their classrooms. The content is mapped to the UAE core AI curriculum domains.

Course Details

  • Primary and secondary educators
  • Beginner to intermediate AI skills/use
  • Total Hours: 15 hours (2.5 days)
  • Dates: August 15 - 17, 2025
  • Timings:
    • Session 1: 9 am – 12pm
    • Session 2: 1 – 4 pm
  • Delivery Mode: Blended (face-to-face workshops with online components)
  • Prerequisites: Basic computer and internet literacy, and readiness to explore new technologies
  • Certification: Participants will receive an AUD Certificate of Completion with 15 CPD hours recognized by CFE CERT https://cfecert.com/

Each session will be crafted for participants to recognize opportunities for AI integration across different subject areas and grade levels, and to gain a foundational understanding of AI concepts and ethical considerations relevant to classroom teaching.

Course Leader Bio:

Dr. Fariha Hayat Salman is Associate Professor at the American University in Dubai, where she leads graduate coursework in Educational Technology within the Graduate School of Education (GSE). She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK, has a Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology from The Pennsylvania State University, USA, and an MRes. from the UCL Institute of Education, UK. Her extensive academic and leadership experience across UAE, USA, UK, and Pakistan positions her uniquely to connect educational research and application of technology to classroom practice. Her recognition as a Fulbright PhD Scholar and Centenary Research Scholar, alongside numerous merit awards acknowledge her contributions to the field. In her role as Project Head at Penn State in collaboration with MIT, she implemented and examined an augmented reality (AR) learning experience as part of a research grant to study the transformative role of emerging technologies in crossover learning environments. Her publications have advanced technology-mediated assessments within Crossover Learning Assessment Design (CLAD) to effectively assess student learning in digital environments. Dr Fariha recently represented AUD in leading a workshop on ‘AI Model Training’ at the University of Sharjah; she continues to advance the UAE’s national initiative on AI Curriculum for K-12 schools as part of AUD Graduate School of Education’s strategic vision.
